I know I have not posted in awhile and there is so much to share with everyone but we had a crisis and our computer of 10+ years said good-bye to us rather suddenly. It's amazing how much of our lives our on our computers and when there is a chance those files may be lost, how scared we get! Luckily, I have an incredible brother who knows what he is doing and is able to save all of our data and build us a new machine. Thanks Chris.....We really appreciate it!
I will write more about December when I can upload some of the photos from our old computer to share with everyone.
I had the chance to go Visiting Teaching to a friend yesterday and her outlook on Christmas and Utah weather made me smile and I wanted to share it all with you. This special woman is from Oregon where snow is a rare thing. She was driving to work the other day with a couple of her co-workers who were born and raised in Utah. As she was looking out the window at the snow on the ground she started to get excited. She started commenting to her co-workers about how amazing and beautiful the snow is. How blessed we are to live in a state that has a "winter" season with snow. (Even as she was relating this to my partner and I she started to get a little giddy.) She asked her co-workers about the salt that we use to get rid of the ice, where does it all go? My partner and I are both are familar with Utah winters and to catch a glimpse of what we take for granted was so much fun and amazing. We started laughing too. What a fun perspective on such a simple thing. Then we started talking about how people seem to be returning to the simplicity of Christmas this year. I have to admit, when several family members approached James and I about not exchanging presents this year, we thought it was a great idea but in the back of my mind I was a little sad. But as far as Christmas goes, this has been a great one! I am not stressed about what to get so and so and what to do about finding the time to wrap all these presents before Christmas Eve. I have spent a lot of time in the Book of John (due to a challenge the Bishop gave to us) and I am finding ways to look at Christmas and the life of our Savior in a new light this year. I love the fact that we aren't running around at the mall all the time or worrying about making sure we get to every major light display before Christmas. I love spending time at the school and seeing the excitement on the childrens faces as they talk about their Christmas plans. I have loved doing different service projects this year. Talking with my friend brought all of this to mind. And I realized how truly blessed I am to spend time with my husband and children this year, as we learn about the life and example of Christ this season.

I totally agree. For enrichment this year we had a woman from Idaho do a presentation about the 3 gifts of christmas & we should give our children the 3 gifts with meaning as one, one they really want & usefulness as the last. She gave a packet to have FHE & then wrap one in green, one in gold, one in red representing each gift so they knew what it was when they opened it & what it meant. I just cant find it in me to spoil my kids & see everyone getting spoiled. Its almost rediculous what christmas has turned into. ANYWAY. Merry Christmas
What a wonderful post. I also think it is so easy to get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season and miss real importance. WE are also trying to be a little more relaxed this year-we aren't going to spend the entire time traveling cross country! We have also enjoyed read in John.
You have a blog! So cute and fun.
I am so glad that you were able to save your files. I am also glad that I can still chat with you guys via blog. It is amazing the things that we really take for granted.
