After an amazing talk in church on Sunday (Karla...two thumbs way up!), I wanted to help our family realize how blessed they are during this Thanksgiving Season. During this month, someone in our family will be posting everyday telling about something they are grateful for and why. I know I am a day late so I will post 2 today but this is something I am really excited about so hopefully I can get my family on board!

Gratitude Entry #1
I am grateful for our Little Red Hen Garden! It has been an amazing experience to work in the soil, weed the garden, plant, and harvest on such a big scale and do it with some incredible friends. I have to say, my favorite part was making sure the water would flow properly to all the different mounds. Watching the running water trickle down from one end of the garden to the other gave me such joy and time to reflect on all the thought processes that were going on in my head. It was such a blessing to have that space to retreat to when I was grieving the death of my grandfather and it was there that I thought up the remarks I made at his funeral. It was also great to teach the kids about gardening and the importance of hard work. They loved going up there each week to work hard but also to play hard! They ran from tree to tree thinking up new ideas for clubs and playing hide and seek. We also had Family Home Evening most Mondays when we went up there as a group and had some great lessons. It was great to feel a connection with Grandma and Grandpa Wall again and I know they are thrilled that the ground they gardened in is being used again in the same way. Plus, there is nothing like corn on the cob you have grown yourself! And our pumpkins were a big hit in our neighborhood because of their massive size. It was a great experience and something I will always be thankful for.

Thanks for the post, Jenni. I am so grateful for the garden group this year and I love all of you so very much. You feel more like family to me than friends. We made baked pumpkin seeds from our pumpkins the other night and, they are tasty. I still have zucchini in the freezer AND the fridge, and my winter squash keep staring at me wondering when their turn is going to come.
