Digital Blessings

Last Saturday, James and I did a purge in our room. After only living in this house for a year, you would think that we wouldn't need to do this so soon but we did. We took pioneer clothes back, big bags of stuff to the DI and there is a massive amount of filing to be done. But in the middle of this madness came an incredible blessing. We found two rolls of film and a SD card that we thought we had lost. Pictures from our Hebgen Lake & Yellowstone trip in 2005 that have priceless memories are what came out of the rolls of film:

These two pictures were taken while just James, Court & I walked down to the house you can still see that went underwater at Quake Lake. This was James' first time to Yellowstone and Quake Lake and I remember wanting to capture as many moments on film as possible because I knew he would love it. I was right! Courtney made us laugh by doing lunges up and down the trail the whole time. That is, until we almost reached the top and realized that there was so wind and the grass everywhere had been moving. SNAKES! Hundreds if not thousands of them in the grass. I can honestly say, I don't remember a time in my adult life that I have ran and jumped into a car that fast!

I am so glad that I have this picture! While Dave was taking us on a boat ride across Hebgen, we saw this perfect snapshot of nature. We came so close to this Elk and with the woods in the background and the stillness of the water, it is an image I will never forget. It was one of the times when you know that God exists because this kind of beauty doesn't "just happen".

I look at these and can't believe how little my kids look. Anytime I find a picture of my grandparents, I chalk it up to another blessing in my life. They mean a lot to our little family and I want my kids to always be able to look at these pictures and realize how much their great grandparents loved them!

On the SD card were some incredible snapshots including:

The top picture is what the kids did while they were waiting for the three racers to come by. It was extremely cold! Then, Tom, James, & Missy at the end of the infamous NUTS half marathon race.

Ice skating lessons at the Ice Sheet for Jackson & Julie.

Fathers Day 2004 pictures

And the best ones that I found were of Courtney & Joe's wedding. I was sick when I figured out that we had lost the SD card that had these pictures on it. What an incredible blessing to have a picture to match the memories in my head of that amazing, and busy, day. To some this may have been a minor thing but to me, it was a blessing.

Wow so many memories. What would life be like without pictures. Whoever invented the camera (probably Mr. Kodak) was a genius. You always take such good pictures. Thats the first time I have seen any pictures of Courtney's wedding. Looks like it was an amazing event.

To be honest, I have never been to sealing like hers. I don't know if was the fact that Joe was a convert and the sealer knew that and wanted to convey an "extra special" message or what but it was an incredible ceremony. Something that James and I talk about quite frequently. The first camera that was small and portable enough to be practical for photography was built by John Strognofe in 1685. The things I know.....Just kidding, I looked it up!
